The People’s Defense Force of Yebyu Township has reported that at least 8 military council soldiers were killed during a two-day battle in the Nabule area of Yebyu Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region. The clash began around 11 AM on April 24 near the foot of Chaytar Mountain in Leshaung village, Nabule area of Yebyu Township, when joint resistance forces attacked military council troops who were advancing towards the Dawei Special Economic Zone. The ensuing firefight lasted for two days, resulting in at least 8 military council casualties and numerous injuries among their ranks.
The offensive operation was carried out by a coalition of resistance forces including the Yebyu Township People’s Defense Force, Dawei People’s Liberation Force (TPLF) Thagara Column, Dawei District Battalion No. 1, Dauna Column 3, Company-4 (KBDF), Company-6 (Weihein), Company-7 (LPF), Dawei District People’s Defense Front (DDPDF), DGRF, Naga Ni Guerrilla Force, and the Golden Pillar Force. The Yebyu Township Allied Forces have declared their commitment to continue fighting until the complete elimination of the military dictatorship system and have urged military council soldiers to defect and join the people’s side as soon as possible.
Simultaneously, local residents have reported that military council forces numbering over 200 troops are advancing from Dawei city toward the Htee Khee border area. Since mid-April, the military has been moving large numbers of troops along the Dawei-Htee Khee road toward the border region, splitting into three columns and entering both urban roads and forest routes. These forces are reportedly fully equipped with both heavy and light weapons. This military movement comes after revolutionary forces led by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) captured the strategic Htee Hta military base in Dawei Township on April 19. The resistance forces have confirmed that the military council’s current troop movements are in response to this recent loss of their strategic position.
