
Two civilians were killed and one was seriously injured when the military council conducted a drone strike on Htonbo village in Mashikhaung village tract, Hpakant Township, Kachin State on September 19 at 9:30 AM. According to local residents, one man and one woman were killed in the attack, which also damaged two residential buildings. The military conducted this targeted attack despite there being no active fighting in the area.
According to local military sources, a military council column of over 150 troops advanced from Yamchauk and reached near Monkey Hill near Lonkin when they launched the drone attack using three bombs. The attack primarily destroyed two buildings while causing minor damage to surrounding areas. Of the three people who were injured, two died immediately while one remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
In the Hpakant region, since May 29, military columns led by Colonel General Kaung Min Htut of Division 33 and Colonel General Zaw Win of the Mogaung-based 3rd Military Operations Command have been continuously conducting attacks against civilians using heavy weapons, drones, and small arms. According to records, these attacks have resulted in over 80 civilian deaths and more than 250 injuries in Hpakant. Due to the military council’s violent attacks, nearly 10,000 people from 15 villages in western Hpakant have been forced to flee their homes and are in urgent need of emergency food, shelter, and medical supplies.
