Two civilians were killed and one was severely injured in airstrikes conducted by the terrorist military forces on villages in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region. The attacks occurred on May 21 in the afternoon when a Y-12 aircraft dropped 39 bombs on villages within Chayatpin and Koetaungbo administrative areas. The aerial assault resulted in the immediate deaths of U Mhine and another man in his thirties from Paukseinkun village, while Daw Si Pu from Sintaw village sustained severe injuries.
In addition to the airstrikes, ground forces comprising more than 200 terrorist military troops entered Sintaw village through Chayatpin and Koetaungbo. The military columns began pursuing and attempting to arrest villagers, forcing the entire population to flee their homes. Local residents reported that the situation on the ground remains difficult to verify in detail due to the ongoing military operations and the mass displacement of villagers seeking safety.
According to a local resident, while the immediate casualties of the airstrikes have been confirmed, the full extent of the damage and current situation remains unclear as the entire village population has been forced to evacuate due to the military’s ground operations and attempts to arrest civilians. The combined air and ground attacks by the terrorist military forces have resulted in loss of life, property, and forced displacement, leaving local residents in a state of fear and uncertainty as they flee their homes to seek safety. The ongoing military operations continue to pose a severe threat to civilian safety and security in the region, demonstrating the military’s continued use of disproportionate force against civilian populations.
