
Two internally displaced persons (IDPs) were killed when the military council fired heavy weapons at civilians who were collecting food supplies from their homes in Chaung Lamu village, Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region on March 21 afternoon. The incident occurred when displaced villagers returned to their homes to retrieve food supplies and were targeted by artillery fire from military council forces.
According to local sources, the military council troops temporarily stationed in Thein Khun village conducted surveillance using drones and fired 120mm artillery shells at the civilians who had entered the village to collect essential supplies. The artillery attack resulted in the immediate deaths of Ma Mi Meh and Ko Thaung Pu, while two other civilians sustained severe injuries. The military council forces deliberately targeted the civilians after spotting them with surveillance drones as they attempted to gather food from their abandoned homes.
A local resistance member reported that the military council forces stationed in Thein Khun village have been engaged in daily clashes with revolutionary forces in the area. The military council has been deliberately targeting civilians with heavy weapons during these confrontations. The military council maintains constant drone surveillance of military movements in the region and closely monitors civilian activities. The situation has created severe humanitarian challenges for local residents who have been forced to flee their homes but must occasionally risk returning to collect essential supplies for survival.
