The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) spokesperson Lwai Ye Oo announced during today’s press conference that they will continue working with allied forces to maintain control of their captured townships. While they had to withdraw from Nawnghkio town to prevent civilian casualties, they are determined to retain control of other TNLA-held territories including Kyaukme, Hsipaw, and Mogok townships. The spokesperson emphasized their commitment to working alongside their allies to achieve their revolutionary goals.
During the detailed briefing, Lwai Ye Oo explained that they are fully committed to cooperating with their alliance partners to achieve their revolutionary objectives while also working to ensure inclusive participation from all stakeholders. Despite the military council’s attempts to initiate negotiations through Chinese mediation, the TNLA has made it clear that they have no plans to return the territories under their control. This stance remains firm even in the face of potential discussions arranged by China.
The spokesperson revealed that while China continues to exert pressure on the TNLA to prevent fighting in the northern Shan State region, the military council has been intensifying its military pressure in townships including Mogok, Patheingyi, Hsipaw, and Kyaukme. As a result, the TNLA finds itself dealing with both political pressure from China and military pressure from the council. Although talks between the TNLA and the military council are scheduled for August under Chinese arrangement, Lwai Ye Oo emphasized that the TNLA will maintain its original stance and principles throughout any negotiations. The organization remains committed to its established policies despite the dual pressures they face from both external and internal forces.
