Stringent security measures have been implemented in Aunglan city, Magway Region, ahead of military council leader Min Aung Hlaing’s visit. Military personnel have been deployed at all basic education schools throughout the city, and drone jammers and drone defense systems have been installed across various locations, according to local government department officials. At the Tamapin Tagu checkpoint at the entrance to Aunglan, a large contingent of military and police forces has been stationed, with approximately fifty soldiers deployed on each street throughout the city for security purposes.
Military vehicles have been positioned at all primary, middle, and high schools in the city, and anti-drone devices have been installed in numerous locations throughout the township. A department official stated that these measures were implemented due to concerns about potential drone attacks. Min Aung Hlaing is scheduled to meet with government employees and city elders at the Aung Myint Shwe War Stadium hall in Yawkun Ward, Aunglan, where he will campaign for participation in the upcoming election.
These heightened security measures have significantly impacted the daily movements of city residents and disrupted students’ education. Local businesses have also been affected by the restrictions. Parents have expressed concern about the military presence within school compounds, leading to decreased student attendance. The deployment of military forces in educational institutions has created an atmosphere of anxiety among the local population, while the extensive security measures have hampered normal civilian activities and economic operations in the city.
