A representative from the Salin Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that three military soldiers were killed during attacks on military forces who had been forcibly recruiting nearly 200 young people as porters in Salin and Sinphyukyun townships of Magway Region within a month. On September 7th, around 10 AM, revolutionary forces launched an attack using small arms and heavy weapons near Salin Town Market in Myinting Ward, Salin Township, targeting military forces who were pursuing and arresting youth using three civilian vehicles between Salin and Sinphyukyun towns.
While the exact number of military casualties from this initial attack could not be confirmed, reports indicate that the soldiers retreated to the Salin Town Police Station following the engagement. Later that same day, around 3 PM, revolutionary forces conducted another attack on a military checkpoint along the Salin-Sinphyukyun road. This checkpoint, manned by approximately 20 personnel, had been established for three weeks at the northern exit of Salin town and was being used to arrest young people as forced porters. During this attack, three checkpoint guards, including both soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members, were killed. The revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties.
A spokesperson from the Salin Township People’s Defense Force has urged local residents to exercise extreme caution when traveling, as the military has been forcibly recruiting approximately 200 young people as porters in and around Salin and Sinphyukyun towns within the past month. The spokesperson also requested that civilians promptly report any military movements or arrest operations. Following these attacks, the military has been conducting clearance operations along the Salin-Sinphyukyun road, prompting warnings for young people in the area to remain vigilant and exercise caution in their daily activities.
