Three armed Pyu Saw Htee members were killed in an attack while they were drinking at Shan Win liquor shop in Palaw Town, Tanintharyi Region, according to an official from Myeik District Battalion No. 1. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM on May 6 at Shan Win liquor shop in Ward 2 of Palaw Town. The deceased were identified as Pyu Saw Htee leader Kular Ni, Pyu Saw Htee leader Kyaw Thu Ra, and Pyu Saw Htee member Than Naing.
These three Pyu Saw Htee members were key perpetrators of violence against civilians in the Palaw area, including extortion, unlawful arrests, collecting illegal tolls, forced military recruitment of young people, and burning civilian homes during conflicts. They served as important operatives for the military council and frequently targeted families and homes of local resistance forces. According to the official from Myeik District Battalion No. 1, they were also involved in providing intelligence to the military council and spreading propaganda through social media platforms. They armed and commanded junior Pyu Saw Htee members to carry out military council operations.
The operation was jointly carried out by Myeik District Battalion No. 1 and the Myeik District PDF forces. These individuals were known to be significant supporters of the military council’s operations in the area, with extensive influence and connections. They were particularly notorious for causing severe hardship to revolutionary forces’ families and communities in Palaw Township, coordinating with higher-ranking military council officials and other Pyu Saw Htee networks to conduct their operations. They were armed by the military and exercised considerable authority over younger Pyu Saw Htee members in the area.
