
According to intelligence and information officer from Battalion 3601, three military soldiers were killed when resistance forces attacked a military column that was heading to reinforce the military outpost at Theinkone Tower in Pyontaza Township, Bago Region. On May 17 at 7:30 AM, a military column of approximately 70 personnel departed from Wegyi Dam embankment towards Theinkone Tower outpost. When the column reached near Peintheik Stream area close to Theinkone village, People’s Defense Force members launched an attack using snipers, 40mm weapons, and small arms in an ambush operation.
During the battle, three soldiers were killed and many others were wounded. The dead and injured soldiers were carried back to Theinkone Tower outpost using stretchers. The deceased soldiers were given military honors and buried on May 18. The attack was carried out by members of the Pyay District People’s Defense Force Battalions 3601 and 3602. Although the military council forces responded with heavy weapons and small arms fire, the People’s Defense Force members were able to withdraw safely without any casualties.
Similarly, on May 17 at 10:15 AM, a patrol of about 30 military soldiers emerged in Salingyi town in Sagaing Region. Revolutionary forces surrounded and attacked this patrol. The battle took place in Kyaungkone ward of Salingyi town, with combined forces including SOLO AUNG GYI, Chindwin Dynamite, and Taungpanni Special Guerrilla Force participating in the attack. The military likely suffered casualties, and as they brought in reinforcements, the fighting continued for approximately 15 more minutes.
