
A spokesperson from the People’s Defense Force – Myeik District Battalion 2 has confirmed that three military council soldiers were killed when revolutionary forces attacked a military vehicle and guard post near Thein Khun village in Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region. The incident occurred around 9 AM on February 8th when resistance forces launched a surprise attack on military personnel traveling from Thein Khun village toward Chaung Hna Pauk village.
During the attack, the military vehicle veered off the road, resulting in the immediate death of three soldiers. The battalion spokesperson indicated that there might be additional casualties among the military personnel. The engagement lasted approximately 25 minutes, with only two resistance fighters sustaining minor injuries. All revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the area after the operation. The attack was carried out through coordination between Myeik District Battalion 2 and allied resistance forces.
Due to the ongoing military tensions in the Tanintharyi Township area, the resistance forces have issued warnings to local residents and travelers to exercise caution while moving through the region. The area continues to experience significant military activity, with revolutionary forces maintaining close surveillance on military council troop movements. The successful operation demonstrates the continued effectiveness of resistance forces in their campaign against the military council in the region, while highlighting the ongoing conflict that affects civilian safety and movement in the area.
