
A spokesperson from the Shwebo Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that three military council soldiers were killed during an attack on a military patrol near the gateway of Shwebo city in Sagaing Region. Additionally, one civilian was killed by indiscriminate artillery fire from the military. The clash, which occurred on the evening of June 4th, lasted for more than an hour and resulted in numerous casualties among the military council forces, forcing them to retreat back into the city due to the effective offensive by revolutionary forces.
The battle took place near the southern gateway of Shwebo, prompting the military council to respond with heavy artillery fire, which resulted in the death of one civilian and injuries to a village defense force coordinator and a PDF member. After the battle, the bodies of three deceased military council soldiers were transported away in two funeral vehicles from Shwebo city, while three resistance fighters sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials. The military forces later withdrew to their bases at Ka Gyi Win area and Mingone region on the western side of Shwebo.
The coordinated attack involved multiple resistance groups, including the Taukyikan People’s Defense Force, Shwebo Township PDF, Township Defense Operations group, Township-5 PDF Combat Unit, Township-5 territorial forces, Depayin Township-3 PDF, Shwebo District Battalion 23, Battalion 26, and Battalion 15. The operation demonstrated the growing coordination and effectiveness of resistance forces in the region, as they successfully forced the military council troops to retreat to their strongholds after suffering significant casualties. Local sources confirmed that following the engagement, military council forces consolidated their positions in their camps in the Ka Gyi Win area and the Mingone region west of Shwebo city.
