A spokesperson from the People’s Defense Force-Yenangyaung has confirmed that three military council soldiers were killed in a mine attack on a military column in Yenangyaung Township, Magway Region. The incident occurred around 5 AM on August 6, when approximately 100 military council troops were advancing through the road connecting Gwekone and Wetchok villages towards Koneint village. Revolutionary forces launched a mine attack as the military column approached the village vicinity. The attack resulted in the immediate death of three military council soldiers and left many others injured.
Following the attack, the military council forces entered Koneint village, conducted searches, and confiscated civilian property. According to local sources, the resistance forces monitored the situation using drones and witnessed the military council troops evacuating their casualties. The location of the incident, Koneint village, is situated near the junction of Yenangyaung-Magway-Natmauk roads, approximately an hour’s walking distance from a regular military checkpoint. The military column involved in the incident included personnel from Light Infantry Division 88 and Infantry Battalion 77 based in Yenangyaung.
The military forces retreated to Gwekone village around 7 PM the same day, as confirmed by local residents. The coordinated attack was carried out through the joint efforts of People’s Defense Force-Yenangyaung (YNG-PDF), Yenanthar Column, Tamar Myay Special Column, and the Intaw District PDF. This operation demonstrates the continued resistance activities against military council forces in the Magway Region, where various revolutionary groups maintain active operations against the military council’s presence and activities in the area.
