Three military council soldiers were killed in an attack that occurred on March 23 in the afternoon at Shwepyithar Ward, Ye-U Town, Sagaing Region. According to the spokesperson of the Ye-U Township People’s Defense Force (PDF), around 1 PM, their northern division conducted a drone strike with three bombs targeting approximately twenty military council soldiers who were conducting security checks in front of a religious hall in Shwepyithar Ward. The attack resulted in three military council soldiers being killed and two others wounded, as confirmed by local sources.
The attack took place in Shwepyithar Ward in the northern part of Ye-U town, where the military council soldiers were not permanently stationed but were conducting temporary security checks when they were attacked. During the incident, the strike directly hit a forward patrol unit of about five soldiers. After the attack, although the military council forces responded with heavy and light weapons fire, the PDF members were able to withdraw successfully without any casualties. The attack specifically targeted soldiers who were conducting security checks, rather than a permanent military installation.
The attack caused some damage to brick walls near the religious hall, and while one civilian passerby temporarily lost consciousness, they did not suffer any physical injuries. Military council forces evacuated their casualties using vehicles, and there were no reports of civilian arrests or injuries during the incident. The Ye-U Township PDF spokesperson confirmed that no civilians were harmed or detained during the operation. The PDF leadership has advised local residents to maintain a safe distance from military council forces for their safety. This incident represents another successful operation by resistance forces against military council troops conducting security operations in civilian areas.
