
The Shwechaun Guerrilla Force has confirmed that three military council soldiers were killed and weapons were seized during an attack on troops who were attempting to collect extortion money from local residents in Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region. The clash occurred on July 17 in the area around Kokku Police Station and Kokku Basic Education High School Branch. The military council troops, who had established a position in the area, were ambushed by resistance forces while they were going out to collect extortion money from local civilians.
During the engagement, three military council soldiers were killed instantly, while the resistance forces were able to withdraw successfully without suffering any casualties. After the battle, numerous military weapons and equipment were seized from the deceased soldiers. The seized items included two MA-11 rifles, two MA-11 magazines, thirty-nine 5.56 ammunition rounds, one hand grenade, two swords, one mobile phone, 40,200 kyats in cash, one backpack, one earphone set, and one lighter, according to the detailed statement released by the resistance forces.
The Shwechaun Guerrilla Force has announced that they will continue to intensify their military operations in the area. As a result, they have warned local residents to avoid areas near military council troops and to dig bomb shelters for protection against airstrikes and artillery attacks. They have emphasized the importance of taking special precautions to ensure the safety and security of local civilians’ lives and property from the military council’s violent actions. The resistance group continues to prioritize civilian safety while conducting their operations against the military council forces who have been extorting money from local residents.
