A spokesperson from the Yangon Region People’s Defense Force has confirmed that three military council soldiers were killed during an attack on a police outpost located in Thar Gyi Karen Village along the Yangon-Mandalay Highway in Pyay Township, Bago Region. The attack, which took place on June 29, also resulted in several injuries among military council forces. According to the official, while the operation successfully inflicted casualties on the military council side, the resistance forces had to withdraw without capturing the outpost due to reinforcement of enemy troops and insufficient ammunition supplies.
The attack was carried out as a retaliatory operation following the death of resistance fighter Bo Sai in the Wedaung Village battle on June 28. The operation was a joint effort between Yangon Region PDF Battalion 3 and Bago District Battalion 3701. The resistance forces successfully withdrew from the operation without suffering any casualties. Currently, the Yangon Region People’s Defense Force continues to conduct military operations in Pyay, Kyaukkyi, and Thanyarpin townships. The spokesperson emphasized that their primary focus remains on ensuring civilian safety in these areas.
The People’s Defense Forces have prioritized civilian safety in their operations and have urged local residents to seek shelter in secure locations during combat operations and to avoid areas where military council troops are stationed. The resistance forces have stated they will continue their offensive operations against military council troops, who continue to commit acts of violence and oppression against local civilians. The People’s Defense Forces remain committed to protecting civilians from the military council’s ongoing campaign of violence and intimidation throughout the region.
