A senior official from Military Commission Column 8 has confirmed that three military council soldiers were killed during a coordinated attack by revolutionary forces on Let Htaung Police Station in Seikphyu Township, Magway Region. The attack took place in the early morning of July 17, when combined revolutionary forces under the leadership of Column 8 launched an offensive against the police station, which was manned by approximately 25 police personnel. During the initial phase of the battle, which began at 4:30 AM, the revolutionary forces successfully captured four police barracks and four bunkers within the station compound.
As the battle continued, with only the main building and two bunkers remaining to be captured, the revolutionary forces were forced to withdraw due to ammunition shortages and the rapid arrival of military council reinforcements. During the engagement, two resistance fighters from Column 8, Comrade Nagar and Comrade Sai Naung (aka) Htun Kha, were killed in action, and the revolutionary forces lost two Type-81 rifles. On the military council’s side, three soldiers were confirmed dead and one was severely wounded, with the possibility of additional casualties. The responsible official noted that the primary challenge was the shortage of ammunition, stating that victory was within reach when they had to withdraw due to depleting ammunition supplies and approaching enemy reinforcements.
The attacking force consisted of a coalition including Column 8, Pakokku District Battalion-19, Unit-3 (Seikphyu Bohmakha Force), Anyar Myay Alliance, People’s Liberation Coalition (PLC), and People’s Revolutionary Front (PRF). Column 8 has announced that they will study the lessons learned and requirements from this battle to achieve future victories for the people. The statement emphasized their commitment to continue their efforts despite the setbacks, focusing on learning from the experience to better serve the public’s revolutionary cause.
