
A spokesperson from the Monywa Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that three military council soldiers were killed during an ambush operation near Khoe Than village in Sagaing Region’s Monywa Township. The incident occurred on the morning of April 24, when resistance forces intercepted approximately twenty military council troops who were attempting to raid and loot civilian properties in Khoe Than village. During the engagement, three military council soldiers were killed and seven others were seriously wounded in the firefight that took place at the village entrance.
The coordinated defensive operation was led by the Monywa Township People’s Defense Force and included participation from multiple resistance groups including the PDF forces from five townships, Tribal Force, Black Falcon, God of Monywa, Golden Eagle, Sun King Envoy, God of Snake, Yaksha, and Monywa District Battalion 1. The spokesperson for the Monywa Township People’s Defense Force confirmed that no civilians were injured or detained during the operation. The ambush successfully prevented the military council forces from entering and looting the village.
In Sagaing Region, military council forces have repeatedly engaged in looting and destroying civilian properties, forcing local residents to flee their homes for safety. Khoe Than village, located within Monywa Township, has seen most of its residents displaced due to ongoing military operations in the area. The People’s Defense Forces continue to conduct defensive operations to protect civilian lives and properties from military council aggression. This recent clash demonstrates the ongoing resistance against military council forces who have been systematically targeting civilian areas and attempting to pillage local communities in the region.
