A representative from the Salin Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that resistance forces engaged in three consecutive days of combat with the military council troops advancing along the Salin-Sinphyukyun road in Magway Region, resulting in seven military council casualties. On the morning of June 28, a military column consisting of approximately 200 troops, supported by two tanks, two armored vehicles, and three trucks, advanced from Salin Township toward Sinphyukyun Township via the Salin-Sinphyukyun road.
Revolutionary forces intercepted the military column near Paunglone village with a mine attack, followed by close-quarter combat lasting over an hour. During this engagement, seven military council troops were killed. Following these casualties, the military council forces returned fire using two tanks and continued their advance. Around 2 PM, another clash occurred near Thasi village, with exchanges of fire lasting more than three hours. In the evening, the military column retreated to North Magyi Kon village, where they ransacked civilian homes and looted residents’ belongings.
On the morning of June 29, as the same military column advanced toward Sinphyukyun town, resistance forces launched another mine attack against their forward elements at around 8:30 AM between Moewin and Thayet Chin villages. Subsequently, as the column moved from Thayet Chin village toward Pan Thein Kon village, additional fighting broke out between the two sides. When military council troops attempted to burn down Pan Thein Kon village in the evening, resistance forces launched a counter-attack, forcing the military council troops to retreat to Thasi village, abandoning weapons, ammunition, and military equipment. The resistance forces were able to extinguish the fires in residential homes before they could cause extensive damage.
On June 30, both sides engaged in artillery exchanges while the military council forces were taking shelter in Thasi village. Finally, on July 1, the military column retreated back to Salin Township, according to the Salin Township People’s Defense Force spokesperson. Throughout these engagements, the resistance forces demonstrated their ability to effectively counter the military council’s operations while protecting civilian areas from destruction.
