
Intense fighting has continued for three consecutive days between the military council forces and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) near Lawa village, Kamain town in Hpakant Township, Kachin State. According to KIA sources, the clashes, which began on April 13 and continued through April 15, have resulted in significant casualties for the military council forces. Throughout the fighting, the military council has been conducting continuous airstrikes and artillery bombardments in the area.
The military council forces and their allied groups have been launching artillery attacks from the strategic hill in Kamain town, while the Min Sae Tan People’s Militia Force and military council joint forces have been conducting drone strikes on the Lawa village area. They have also been carrying out attacks using fighter jets. The fighting has been continuous along the Ledo Road in Hpakant Township, with reports indicating heavy casualties among the Min Zae Thant People’s Militia Force and military council troops during these engagements. The military council forces and their allied groups are attempting to gain control of the area along the Ledo Road and are preparing to launch operations toward Hpakant.
Military council forces and their collaborators have been advancing through the Indawgyi area, resulting in clashes that led to five military council casualties and the capture of weapons. Additionally, two military columns are reportedly moving along the Myitkyina-Lawa-Hpakant road in an attempt to advance toward Hpakant city. The situation remains tense as the military council continues its offensive operations in the region, with ongoing airstrikes and artillery attacks. On April 15 at 10:43 AM, fighter jets from Tataung launched another bombing raid on Lawa village near Kamain town, demonstrating the military council’s continued use of airpower in the conflict.
