A fierce three-day battle that began on September 1 in Thauk Kya Taw village, Wuntho Township, Sagaing Region, resulted in approximately 30 casualties among military council forces, according to local revolutionary forces. The engagement also led to the capture of 5 prisoners of war and the seizure of various weapons and ammunition.
The battle erupted when revolutionary forces intercepted and attacked a military column of approximately 200 troops from Infantry Battalions 111 and 120 under the military council as they advanced toward Thauk Kya Taw village, east of Wuntho town. The operation involved coordinated action between multiple resistance groups, including Battalion 1 and Battalion 4 of Kanbalu District, along with revolutionary forces based in Wuntho Township and Kawlin Township.
During the engagement, four resistance fighters sustained injuries, though none were life-threatening. This battle demonstrated the capabilities and unified combat power of local People’s Defense Forces, successfully repelling the military council’s offensive operation. The success of the operation was attributed to the strategic coordination between local revolutionary forces, who were able to execute an effective counter-offensive against the military council troops. The revolutionary sources confirmed that the coordinated effort between different resistance groups was key to achieving such significant results in the operation.
