Three civilians were killed in an aerial attack by the terrorist military forces on Chin Su and Kyin Gyi villages in Htone Bo Township, Bago Region, according to the Thayarwaddy District Military Affairs Officer. On September 7 at approximately 5:25 PM, the terrorist military conducted an aerial bombardment using five military helicopters on these villages without any ongoing conflict in the area. The attack resulted in the immediate deaths of Ko Chit Kaung, age 36, and Ko Khant Kyaw Thu, a 15-year-old seventh-grade student from Chin Su village, along with Ko Tin Myoe Min, age 35, from Kyin Gyi village.
The aerial assault also caused significant damage to the monastery in Kyin Gyi village, forcing local residents to flee to safer locations. There were numerous other casualties, with some sustaining severe injuries. The Thayarwaddy District Military Affairs Officer confirmed that this attack was a deliberate targeting of civilian populations without any military engagement in the area. The impact of the bombardment has caused widespread destruction and displacement of local residents, who are now seeking refuge in safer locations away from their homes. The attack represents a significant escalation in the military’s use of aerial warfare against civilian targets in the region.
Previously, on August 28 at approximately 4:44 PM, the terrorist military forces stationed in Teim Myut village had also conducted an unprovoked drone attack on Daung Lay village, dropping two bombs. This earlier attack resulted in the immediate deaths of five-year-old Ma Yon Mi Mi and her mother, Daw Zin Ma Thein, age 32. Human rights observers note that such systematic attacks by the terrorist military forces against civilian populations constitute violations of international humanitarian law and could be classified as war crimes. These incidents demonstrate a pattern of indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas by the military council, resulting in the loss of innocent lives and widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure.
