Local residents reported that three buffaloes were killed and a fuel shop was destroyed when the military council conducted an airstrike using 500-pound bombs near Kwin Gyi village in Thigyaing Township, Sagaing Region. The military council carried out the aerial bombardment on March 8 at 5 PM without any ongoing battles in the area. While the bombs fell outside the village, avoiding civilian casualties, one buffalo was killed after being thrown and caught in a tree by the blast.
According to a local resident, one bomb fell near a road junction by a coconut tree at the entrance of Kwin Gyi village, resulting in the destruction of a fuel shop and the death of three buffaloes. Another bomb landed in a paddy field near an agricultural center between Kwin Gyi village and Pauk Kon village. The bombing created large craters in the impacted areas, and villagers considered themselves fortunate that the bombs did not fall within the village itself.
Kwin Gyi village, home to approximately 200 households, has seen most of its residents forced to flee due to the military council’s airstrikes. Local sources indicate that the military council is deliberately targeting civilian areas without any military engagement, resulting in the destruction of lives and property, and forcing residents to flee their homes in fear. The ongoing attacks have created a humanitarian crisis as villagers abandon their homes and livelihoods to seek safety elsewhere.
