Local residents reported that three buffaloes were killed when the military council conducted an airstrike using 500-pound bombs near Kwin Gyi village in Hteechaing Township, Sagaing Region, though no human casualties were reported. The military council aircraft deliberately targeted several locations near Kwin Gyi village on March 8 at 5 PM. The bombing created large craters in the targeted areas, causing damage to farmlands and road junctions outside the village.
Among the bombed locations was a junction near a neem tree at the entrance of Kwin Gyi village, where a fuel shop was burned down and three buffaloes were killed. Additionally, bombs fell on farmlands near an agricultural center between Kwin Gyi village and Pauk Kone village. Kwin Gyi village, home to approximately 200 households, has seen most of its residents displaced due to the military council’s airstrikes. The bombing occurred without any ongoing battles in the area, indicating a deliberate targeting by the military council forces.
According to a local resident, the military council’s airstrike was an intentional attack carried out without any active conflict in the area. Fortunately, the bombs did not fall within the villages themselves, preventing human casualties. However, the bombing created large craters at the impact sites and caused significant damage to surrounding farmlands, roads, and infrastructure. The military council’s deliberate attacks have caused fear and security concerns among local residents, forcing many to flee their homes and seek safety elsewhere. The incident has highlighted the ongoing pattern of the military council’s use of airstrikes against civilian areas, leading to destruction of property and displacement of local communities.
