The military council conducted an aerial bombing using 500-pound bombs near Kwin Gyi village in Htee Chaing Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the death of three buffaloes and the destruction of a fuel shop, according to local residents. The airstrike occurred around 5 PM on March 8, with bombs falling outside the village area, resulting in no civilian casualties.
The bombing created large craters in the impact areas, with one buffalo being thrown by the blast and found dead hanging in a tree. One bomb fell near the intersection by the Kokko tree at the entrance of Kwin Gyi village, causing a fuel shop to catch fire and killing three buffaloes. Another bomb landed in a paddy field near an agricultural center between Kwin Gyi village and Pauk Kone village, according to local residents.
Kwin Gyi village, home to approximately 200 households, has seen most of its residents displaced due to the military council’s airstrikes, while those remaining live in constant fear. The military council continues to deliberately target civilian areas even in the absence of active fighting, causing destruction to lives and property of local residents. The airstrikes have also severely impacted the agricultural and livestock farming activities of the local population, further deteriorating their livelihoods and economic stability.
