The military council conducted an unprovoked airstrike with 500-pound bombs near Kwin Gyi village in Htee Chaing Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the death of three buffaloes and the destruction of a fuel shop, according to local residents. The airstrike occurred on March 8 at 5 PM when the military council forces targeted the area near Kwin Gyi village without any ongoing battles. While the bombs fell outside the village area avoiding civilian casualties, one buffalo was blown away by the blast and found dead hanging in a tree.
According to a Kwin Gyi villager, one bomb struck near a road junction by a coconut tree at the village entrance, causing a fuel shop to catch fire and killing three buffaloes. Another bomb landed in a paddy field near an agricultural center between Kwin Gyi village and Pauk Kone village. The bombing created large craters in the targeted areas. The villager added that they were fortunate the bombs did not fall directly within the village.
Kwin Gyi village, which has approximately 200 households, is located near the area targeted by the airstrike. Most local residents have been forced to flee their homes due to the military council’s continued aerial bombardment.
