In Pauk Kaung Township of Bago Region, the military council’s forces have been conducting offensive operations against villages, causing thousands of civilians to flee while some have been arrested and killed, according to local residents. On July 18, military council troops attacked Kyoe Pin Wine village and surrounding areas with drones and heavy weapons. The attacks have forced thousands of local residents to flee to safer locations, as reported by locals.
The military council troops have been continuously raiding Kyoe Pin Wine village and Hlu Sin Kone village since July 15. During these raids, they fired weapons and arrested and killed civilians. Currently, the exact number of civilians killed and their village of origin cannot be confirmed. A local resident stated that it is impossible to enter the villages to investigate due to the presence of military council troops.
Due to the sudden raids by military council troops, most civilians had to flee without being able to take any belongings. The displaced people are currently in urgent need of food supplies, with only about two days’ worth of rice remaining. Being the rainy season, they are experiencing illness outbreaks and insufficient shelter. Most of the displaced people are day laborers who are now struggling to survive with minimal resources. Local residents report that they are living and eating however they can manage.
The military council troops have not only raided the villages but also looted valuable possessions, jewelry, and money from civilians. Currently, approximately one hundred military council troops are conducting operations in the area, and local civilians are in urgent need of assistance. They particularly require food supplies, shelter materials, and medicine, according to local residents’ appeals.
