
Local residents have reported that thousands of civilians are fleeing their homes in villages surrounding the Wampong Company area in Salingyi Township, Sagaing Region, due to military operations conducted by the military council forces. Beginning on June 16, approximately 100 military council troops entered the area near Nyaungpingyi village tract near the Wampong Company. This military operation has forced residents from more than 11 villages within and around the Nyaungpingyi village tract to abandon their homes and seek safety in other locations.
According to local sources, the military council forces are currently confined to movements within the Nyaungpingyi village tract area and have not yet expanded their operations to other locations. The number of displaced civilians has reached into the thousands, with people seeking refuge in safer areas. The military operations have forced residents to abandon their homes, agricultural activities, and livestock, leading to significant challenges in meeting their basic needs for food and shelter. The displacement has created immediate humanitarian concerns for the affected communities, who have had to leave behind their livelihoods and possessions.
Simultaneously, in Paungde Township of Bago Region, military council forces have been conducting operations that include the burning and destruction of villages. On June 14, military council troops entered Hpyusoe village in Paungde Township and burned down 26 civilian homes, according to local residents. These acts of destruction by the military council forces have resulted in the loss of civilian property and created urgent humanitarian needs among the affected populations. The ongoing military operations in both regions have led to widespread displacement and suffering among civilian populations, who continue to face serious challenges to their safety and survival while being forced to flee their homes and communities.
