Thai police seized weapons and ammunition intended for the Karen National Union (KNU) during a raid on a condominium unit in Bangkok’s Lat Si district, Thung Song Hong subdistrict on April 25. The operation was conducted following intelligence reports about military weapons being stored in a condominium unit on Chaeng Watthana Soi 12/2. During the search, authorities discovered and confiscated a large cache of weapons and ammunition.
According to building management, the occupant of the condominium unit had left the premises on April 12 and had not returned by the time of the raid. This seizure is connected to an earlier case on April 23, when Thai authorities arrested two men in Mae Hong Son district of Chiang Mai province along with military weapons that were allegedly intended for delivery to the KNU.
The two previously arrested individuals confessed that they had been hired to transport weapons from Chang Phueak subdistrict in Chiang Mai to the Karen National Union forces in Mae Hong Son district. Similarly, the Thai police have confirmed that the weapons seized in Bangkok were also being prepared for delivery to the KNU. Thai authorities continue to maintain heightened vigilance against such weapons trafficking operations and are actively working to intercept illegal arms shipments in the region.
