The Karen National Union (KNU) has officially announced that a joint operation by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) resulted in the capture of the military council’s Pu Lu Tu camp along the Thai-Myanmar border in Karen State, leading to the death of 12 military council soldiers while 11 others fled to Thailand. The battle occurred on March 14 at Point 1248 Pu Lu Tu outpost under Infantry Battalion 31 in Hlaingbwe Township, where KNLA Brigade 7 and allied forces successfully conducted the offensive operation.
Among the 11 military council soldiers who escaped to Thailand, three were reported to have sustained injuries. They managed to flee with two small arms and one hand grenade. The KNU confirmed that on their side, six KNLA soldiers were wounded and three were killed in the battle. This engagement represents a significant victory for revolutionary forces in capturing an important military council position along the Thai-Myanmar border. The Pu Lu Tu camp served as a strategically important location for the military council and was used as a key base for military operations in the Thai-Myanmar border region. Its capture represents a substantial blow to the military council’s capabilities and demonstrates their weakening control in the area.
The continued military successes of revolutionary forces within KNU territory are contributing to the increasing destabilization of military council administration. The capture of Pu Lu Tu camp is particularly significant as it was one of the military council’s important strongholds in the border area, used for maintaining their presence and conducting operations in the region. This victory by the KNLA and KNDO forces demonstrates the growing strength of resistance forces and their ability to effectively challenge military council control in various strategic locations. The loss of such a significant position continues to erode the military council’s ability to maintain their grip on border areas and represents another step in the ongoing struggle against their rule.
