According to an official statement from the Thai military, the Thai Air Force has deployed two American-made F-16 fighter jets to patrol the Thai-Myanmar border area in response to bombing raids by the military council’s aircraft. Currently, two battles are taking place near the Thai-Myanmar border in the KNU Brigade 7 territory of Karen State, where forces led by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) are launching offensive operations against the military council’s Khlay Day camp. The military council has responded with retaliatory airstrikes in the area.
After detecting the military council’s MIG-29 fighter jets conducting bombing missions, the Royal Thai Air Force initiated security patrols with two F-16 fighter aircraft along the border region. On March 24 at 11:57 AM, the Thai Royal Air Force began patrol operations with two F-16 aircraft in the Tak province along the Thai-Myanmar border. While the military council’s aircraft have been operating in the border area, confirmation has been received that they have not violated Thai territorial airspace.
A YAK-130 aircraft belonging to the military council dropped four bombs approximately 500 meters from the Thai-Myanmar border, resulting in explosion sounds being heard along the border area. However, the Thai military has confirmed that no projectiles have landed on Thai territory and there has been no damage or casualties on the Thai side. Currently, tensions remain high along the border region, with the Thai military closely monitoring the situation and prepared to implement additional security measures if necessary.
