SAGAING DIVISION – An official from Ba Thu Kyawal Column said that ten junta forces were killed during the attack on a junta column near Nyaungpinkan Village in Butalin Township.
Around 2:30 p.m. on February 6, about 100 junta forces from the North West Command in Monywa came out towards Butalin along the Monywa-Ye U Road in three trucks. They were then intercepted and attacked by People’s Defence Force (PDF) forces near Nyaungpinkan Village and at least ten junta forces were said to have been killed in the attack.
That terrorist junta column had come out to switch troops with the junta forces in Butalin and the junta North West Command in Monywa reportedly fired howitzer cannons to cover them when they were attacked.
“We learned from the local defence forces that at least ten junta dogs (junta forces) were killed in that attack. There were civilian cars passing through during the attack and it caused us some inconveniences carrying out the mission as we had to be considerate of the civilians. We urge the people to be aware of the military situation and travel only after checking the situations on the road,” said the official from Ba Thu Kyawal Column.
The attack was carried out by the members of Ba Thu Kyawal Column under Northwestern People’s Defence Force – Yinmabin District Battalion 9 and the PDF soldiers are said to be unharmed.
