A successful attack was carried out on Infantry Division 33 Headquarters in Sagaing City, Sagaing Region, with three rocket-propelled grenades that effectively hit and exploded within the military base. A representative from Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) confirmed that military council casualties are likely from the attack. The attack occurred at 2:20 PM on May 31, utilizing three 107mm rockets that successfully struck their intended targets within the headquarters compound.
The operation was conducted through a joint effort led by Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) in collaboration with Shadow (Sagaing), No More Dictatorship (NMD), and Sagaing Urban Guerrilla (Infinity) groups. Infantry Division 33 has been notorious for its brutal actions against civilians throughout the Spring Revolution period, and currently, under the leadership of its Deputy Commander, continues to terrorize local villages in Sagaing Township by arresting civilians and using them as human shields during military operations.
The primary objective of this attack was to respond to intelligence indicating that a high-ranking military council leader was scheduled to visit the division headquarters. BWM and its allied forces executed BWM Mission 40, aimed at demonstrating that no location is safe for military council leadership and to eliminate their safe havens. The operation successfully achieved its immediate tactical objectives, though investigations are ongoing to determine the specific identity of the military council leader who was expected to visit the base. The resistance forces have expressed their gratitude to local revolutionary groups who provided crucial assistance in ensuring the mission’s success.
