The military has promoted Lieutenant Colonels (G1) from Defense Services Academy Intake 45 to strategic command positions. Currently, 24 officers from the National Defense University have been promoted to strategic commander positions. While these promotions appear to be part of regular rotations, the status of previous strategic commanders remains unclear. The newly appointed strategic commanders are exclusively G1 officers, and while there are three types of officers eligible for strategic command positions – G1, A1, and Q1 – only Deputy Colonel (G1) officers received promotions in this round, while First Class Staff Officers for Military Affairs (A1) and Military Support (Q1) remained without promotions.
The promoted officers have been reassigned to various regional military commands, infantry division headquarters, and operations command headquarters across the country. Among those promoted, Lieutenant Colonel Nyi Nyi Htun from Western Command was transferred to Northern Command, Lieutenant Colonel Kyaw Khine Linn from Military Operations was moved to Naypyidaw Regional Command, and several other officers from the Military Training Office were reassigned to different strategic positions. The reassignments include transfers to various combat divisions, regional commands, and operational command centers in different parts of the country.
The military has strategically positioned these newly promoted officers across various key locations including border areas, conflict zones, and important military installations. The transfers involve movements between training facilities, operational commands, and regional headquarters, suggesting a significant restructuring of military leadership positions. The appointments span across multiple regions including Myitkyina, Taunggyi, Mawlamyine, Dawei, and other strategically important locations. These promotions and transfers represent a substantial reorganization within the military’s command structure, with new leaders being positioned in critical areas of operation throughout the country.
