
A soldier from SNA Brigade 614, a subordinate unit of the terrorist military in Banmauk Township, Sagaing Region, has defected to revolutionary forces with weapons and ammunition, according to an official from the People’s Defence Force (PDF) Battalion 4 of Katha District. The soldier arrived on June 9th, bringing with him an M-23 rifle and ammunition when he defected to PDF Battalion 4 of Katha District.
In recognition of the soldier’s defection, PDF Battalion 4 of Katha District, along with departmental organizations from Banmauk Township and supporting civilians, collectively awarded him a monetary reward of 15 million kyats. The PDF official confirmed that the soldier had defected directly from the frontline and extended an invitation to others who wish to defect, stating they can make contact through their social media page.
Furthermore, the official emphasized that defectors are warmly welcomed and not subjected to any violence, contrary to the military’s propaganda. He clarified that all defectors are safely harbored within the people’s protection, despite false narratives spread by the terrorist military. The official reiterated that any soldier wishing to join the genuine people’s revolution is welcome to do so. Currently, the defected soldier is being kept under security measures and provided with necessary assistance, according to sources.
