
Revolutionary forces attacked military checkpoints and columns around Bawnatgyi area in Bago, along the Yangon-Mandalay highway approximately 50 miles from Yangon, resulting in six military council soldiers killed and sixteen weapons seized. According to an official from Battalion 3701 (Shwechaung Column) of Bago District, the attacks occurred in multiple locations. On May 18 around 2 AM, revolutionary forces attacked a military council checkpoint at Zitaw village along the Bawnatgyi-Zaungtu-Taikkyi Mile 50 road, where approximately 15 soldiers were stationed. The military council troops fled during the attack.
The revolutionary forces carefully planned their approach for about 4 hours before launching the attack. The military council soldiers were caught off guard and retreated, leaving behind their weapons and ammunition. No revolutionary force members were injured during the battle. The seized weapons included 2 G4 rifles, 2 G3 rifles, 1 G2 rifle, 9 M1 carbines, 780 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 20 magazines of 7.62mm ammunition, 951 rounds of M1 carbine ammunition, 18 carbine magazines, 139 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and additional 5.56mm magazines. The revolutionary forces subsequently burned down the military council checkpoint.
On May 22 at 2:15 AM, another attack was carried out on a military council outpost at mile marker 32.7 on the Yangon-Mandalay highway, resulting in two soldiers killed and one injured. Subsequently, on May 24 at 8:40 AM, revolutionary forces intercepted a military council column near the Bawnatgyi-Zaungtu-Taikkyi Mile 50 road, killing four soldiers including a deputy commander of the Pyu Saw Htee group, and seizing two M1 carbine rifles.
An official from Battalion 3701 (Shwechaung Column) of Bago District stated that they currently face urgent ammunition shortages but are continuing their efforts with available resources. They called for support from local civilians, emphasizing that the path to returning home is getting closer and inviting people to be part of this historic moment. Currently, the battles have reached within a 50-mile radius of Yangon, with revolutionary forces spreading out and launching offensives against military council outposts in multiple locations.
