
A senior official from the Southern Military Region has confirmed that joint forces successfully attacked and captured six military council camps in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region, resulting in the deaths of over 20 military council soldiers, including a deputy battalion commander. The operation also led to the seizure of numerous weapons, ammunition, and military equipment.
On April 28, combined forces under the command of Military Operation Area 2 and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) launched simultaneous attacks on military council camps stationed in various locations throughout Kyaukkyi Township, including Kyun Kone, Yinteikkone, Taungsu, Yanmyoaung, Tamakaw villages, and the Naungkone Bridge. During the intense fighting, more than 20 military council soldiers, including a deputy battalion commander, were killed, while many others were wounded and forced to retreat from their positions.
The successful operation resulted in the capture of over 30 different types of heavy and light weapons, along with significant quantities of ammunition and military supplies. The joint operation involved numerous resistance forces, including the People’s Defense Force (PDF), Military Operation Area 2, Division Military Command (Bago), Strategy 24, Strategy 25, Battalion 7803 (Alavaka Column), Battalion 3503, Naga Ni Column, Yangon PDF Strike Force 3, Ayeyarwady Battalion 3, Battalion 3702, Special Commando Battalion, Spring Warrior Column, Battalion 1805 Drone Special Force, Strategy 25 and 26 Drone Forces, Division Artillery Forces, and KNLA Battalions 8 and 9. This coordinated effort demonstrated the growing strength and effectiveness of the resistance forces in their campaign against the military council.
