In Sagaing Region’s Depaeyin Township, an airstrike by the military council forces on a school in Ohtein Kwin village resulted in the deaths of approximately twenty people, including two teachers and students, while more than thirty others were injured, according to local rescue workers. This incident represents the latest example of the military council’s deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure, severely impacting the education sector. This brutal attack on students and education personnel constitutes a violation of international law and could be classified as a war crime.
Meanwhile, claims by the military council about regaining control of the 598th Infantry Battalion headquarters in Shwegyin Township, Bago Region, have been refuted by Revolutionary Forces. Commander Aung San Htar of the Southern Military Region Special Forces confirmed that the military council is spreading misinformation using old photographs, and the battalion headquarters remains under the control of revolutionary forces. This demonstrates the military council’s ongoing efforts to disseminate false propaganda while failing to maintain territorial control.
Additionally, in Bago Region’s Minhla Township, revolutionary forces launched an offensive against military council troops stationed at the Haingyu Junction, resulting in the complete evacuation of the military position by council forces. This successful operation demonstrates the increasing military capabilities of revolutionary forces and reflects the declining morale among military council troops. The success of revolutionary operations has been attributed in part to strong local civilian support, highlighting the growing strength of the resistance movement against the military council’s oppression.
