A convoy carrying Sagaing Region Military Commander Brigadier General Myo Min Htwe was attacked while traveling from Sagaing to Monywa city, resulting in three military council soldiers being seriously injured, according to a responsible official from the Royal Tiger Force guerrilla group. The incident occurred on February 25 at 7:15 PM on the Monywa-Chaung-U road in Monywa Township. The attack targeted a convoy of five civilian vehicles traveling from Military Battalion 33 in Sagaing to the Northwestern Command Headquarters in Monywa, using three Padesaya mines.
The attack successfully hit the third vehicle in the convoy, causing serious injuries to three military council soldiers who were on board. Brigadier General Myo Min Htwe, who was traveling in the second vehicle, was not injured in the attack. Following the incident, military council forces responded with heavy artillery fire from their position at Nataykan. The operation was jointly carried out by the Royal Tiger Force guerrilla group, Monywa District Battalion 12’s Unit 3 Lightning Force, and the Nway Oo Brothers Column. All People’s Defense Force members successfully withdrew from the area without any casualties.
Brigadier General Myo Min Htwe, who currently serves as the Sagaing Region Military Commander, assumed the position of Northwestern Command Commander in December 2024. He had previously been captured as a prisoner of war by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) during their seizure of Lashio and the Northeastern Command Headquarters in August 2024, when he held the position of Strategic Operations Command-1 commander. He now oversees military council operations in the Sagaing Region and became the target of this attack by local People’s Defense Forces.
