Revolutionary forces have successfully apprehended four robbers responsible for a violent home invasion in Kyauktun village, Kawlin Township, Sagaing Region. The incident occurred on July 22 when the armed criminals broke into the home of U Min Kaung and his family members. The perpetrators, who were carrying sticks and knives, tied up and brutally beat all five family members during the robbery.
After assaulting the family, the robbers made off with 16 million kyats (approximately $7,600 USD) in cash and other valuable possessions. Following the incident, local revolutionary forces including the People’s Defense Force (PDF), People’s Protection Force (PPF), and other resistance groups launched an investigation. Their efforts led to the successful arrest of the perpetrators on August 11.
The arrested robbers were identified as residents from Nam Kham village and Kan Kone village in Wuntho Township, and Letpankhan village and Yaupyukone (East Village) in Kawlin Township. According to the investigation, the perpetrators were drug users who likely committed the robbery to fund their drug habits. The revolutionary forces are continuing their interrogation of the suspects and will proceed with legal action against them in accordance with the law. This case demonstrates the ongoing efforts of resistance forces to maintain law and order and protect civilians in areas under their control, even as the country continues to face broader political upheaval.
