All passenger and cargo aircraft are currently avoiding Pakistani airspace due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. India launched missile strikes against targets within Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled Kashmir regions, prompting Pakistan to retaliate by targeting Indian aircraft and drones. This exchange of hostilities follows India’s accusation that Pakistan bears responsibility for a terrorist attack in the Indian-controlled Kashmir region of Pahalgam village on April 22, where 25 Indian tourists and one Nepalese citizen were killed.
The military tension between the two countries has reached its highest point, with both sides implementing emergency measures in states near the disputed Kashmir region and border areas, including school closures and civilian evacuations. Both nations are visibly ramping up their military preparations. Pakistan has officially announced that eight civilians, including children, were killed and more than 30 were injured in India’s attacks. Pakistan has also formally declared its intention to conduct retaliatory strikes against India. The situation has led to significant disruption of air traffic, with all commercial aviation being rerouted to avoid Pakistani airspace as a safety precaution amid the ongoing military confrontation between these two nuclear-armed nations.
