The Joint Committee Against Illegal Sham Elections, formed by the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) and National Unity Government (NUG), has appealed to revolutionary forces to collectively oppose the military council’s illegal sham election and peace process. The committee stated that the 2020 election results remain politically legitimate, and conducting illegal elections without the consent of elected representatives and the public not only violates democratic principles but also represents an attempt to illegitimately seize people’s sovereign power.
The committee emphasized that the terrorist military council is using illegal sham elections and fake peace talks as tools to maintain and extend their power. Therefore, revolutionary forces are urged to maintain revolutionary vigilance and respond with firm, unified positions against these actions without participating in or supporting them. The committee also called for cooperation with local people in ethnic areas and revolutionary territories to prevent the military council from organizing and conducting elections in these regions.
The Joint Committee Against Illegal Sham Elections has specifically urged revolutionary forces to officially declare in some form that they will not allow illegal sham elections to take place. The committee particularly emphasized the importance of remaining united and continuing to march together until achieving the revolutionary common goals of completely eliminating the military dictatorship system and establishing a new Federal Democratic Union. They stressed the need for maintaining solidarity in this crucial struggle for democracy and freedom.
