Revolutionary forces launched an attack on the Latkattaung Tower Camp in Lalontar Township, Tanintharyi Region, on March 13 at 7:00 AM, resulting in the death of 12 military council soldiers and the seizure of weapons and ammunition, according to an official from the Duraka Column. The battle lasted approximately 6 hours and involved intense fighting. During the operation, the revolutionary forces captured one MA-3 rifle, nine ammunition magazines, three hand grenades, and various other military equipment.
The attack was carried out through a joint operation led by the Duraka Column of the Dawei National Liberation Army (DNLA), in cooperation with the Yephyu People’s Defense Force and Dawei District Battalion 2. The revolutionary forces executed a strategic assault that effectively broke through the military council’s defensive positions. After the battle concluded, they successfully secured all weapons, ammunition, and military supplies from within the camp.
As military operations intensify nationwide, revolutionary forces have advised local civilians to remain vigilant and exercise caution in their daily activities. They have also called upon members of the military council forces and police to defect to the people’s side as soon as possible. The revolutionary forces have declared their commitment to continue fighting until the complete elimination of the military dictatorship while protecting the lives and property of civilians. This successful operation represents another strategic victory in the ongoing struggle for democracy and freedom from military rule in Myanmar.
