The National Unity Government’s Ministry of Defense has officially announced that revolutionary forces launched attacks on nine military council camps located along the old Yangon-Mandalay road in Nyaunglebin, Kyauktaga, and Pyay townships of Bago Region on June 25. During the battles, at least 19 military council soldiers were killed, and three prisoners of war, including a police officer, were captured.
The battles began in the early morning of June 25, with revolutionary forces launching simultaneous attacks on all military council camps. During the operations, they seized 16 heavy and light weapons, along with ammunition and numerous military equipment. The revolutionary forces suffered one casualty and two injuries during the offensive. The attacking forces included units from Operation Area 2, Regional Military Command, Strategy 24, Naga Ni Column, Alavaka Battalion, Battalion 3503, Pyay People’s Defense Force, Strategy 25, Battalion 3702, Spring Warriors Column, KNLA Battalion 9, Strategy 26, Royal Peacock Battalion, and Forest Crow Battalion.
Notably, one military council camp located near Tawi village between Nyaunglebin and Kyauktaga cities on the old Yangon-Mandalay road was attacked around 1 AM and successfully captured by 2 AM. Although the military council responded with heavy artillery during the battle, there was no air support, as confirmed by an official from the Royal Peacock Battalion. The People’s Defense Force continues to intensify its operations in the Bago Region and has requested local civilians to cooperate with their efforts. The successful coordinated attacks demonstrate the growing capabilities of resistance forces in their fight against the military council’s control of the region.
