A spokesperson from the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) has confirmed that their joint forces attacked Infantry Battalion 39, located at the 4-mile point in Taungoo, Bago Region, using 107mm rockets, resulting in the deaths of five military personnel including two officers. The attack took place on July 8 at 2:20 PM, when three 107mm rockets were fired at the military council’s Infantry Battalion 39, with all three rockets successfully hitting and detonating within the battalion compound.
The attack resulted in the deaths of two military officers and three soldiers, while six other military personnel were injured. Additionally, the battalion’s food storage facility, equipment warehouse, and barracks were destroyed by fire. Infantry Battalion 39, which operates under the Southern Command Headquarters, had been functioning as a strategic position that hindered revolutionary activities in the region. The attack was carried out in response to military requirements in KNLA Brigade 2, Battalion 5’s territory, with coordination between allied forces.
The operation was jointly conducted by Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), Mountain Knights Civilian Defense Force (MKCDF), and Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF) in collaboration with KNLA Brigade 2, Battalion 5. On the same day, July 8, BWM and revolutionary alliance forces also launched an attack on the Taungoo (Ketumadi) Air Force Base using eleven 107mm rockets. This coordinated offensive demonstrates the growing capabilities and cooperation between various revolutionary forces in their resistance against the military council’s control of the region.
