A spokesperson from the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) has confirmed that revolutionary forces conducted two separate attacks on the military council’s Ketumadi Air Base in Taungoo Township, Bago Region, successfully hitting targets with 11 107mm rockets. The first attack was initiated at 4:33 AM on July 8, during which resistance forces fired 12 107mm rockets, with four successfully striking their targets. The revolutionary forces had to withdraw following retaliatory fire from the military council troops.
The second attack was carried out at 11:55 PM the same day, despite heavy artillery fire from the military council forces. During this operation, resistance forces launched eight 107mm rockets, with seven successfully hitting targets within the air base. This operation was designated as BWM’s Mission 42, and witnesses reported hearing secondary explosions following the initial rocket impacts. The attacking forces confirmed that multiple explosions were heard within the air base compound after the strikes.
The Taungoo Air Base headquarters serves as a crucial military aviation facility that regularly conducts airstrikes against revolutionary forces and displaced civilians in Karen State, Karenni State, and Southern Shan State. This coordinated attack was led by the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) in collaboration with the Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces (MKCDF), Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force (ACPLF), and the Northern Thandaung Special Region forces, working alongside KNLA Brigade 2, Battalion 5.
