Revolutionary forces conducted artillery strikes against military council positions in Depaeyin town, Sagaing Region. The attack was carried out on the evening of May 19 through a joint operation between the White People’s Defense Force and the A2K People’s Defense Force. According to a spokesperson from the White People’s Defense Force who confirmed the information to Yangon Modern News Agency, while there were casualties among military council troops, the exact numbers could not yet be verified.
The spokesperson confirmed that all revolutionary forces were able to safely withdraw after the attack with no casualties on their side. Depaeyin is one of the main locations where military council forces have established strongholds in Sagaing Region, and it has been a site of continuous oppression against local civilians. As a result, revolutionary forces have been closely monitoring military council movements in the area and responding with tactical strikes when necessary.
Military analysts in the region suggest that such attacks are increasingly limiting the military council’s freedom of movement in the area and making it more difficult for them to continue their oppressive actions against civilians. As revolutionary forces’ operations become more effective, the military council’s area of control is expected to further diminish. The coordinated artillery strike demonstrates the growing tactical capabilities of resistance forces in the region and their ability to conduct joint operations effectively against military council positions.
