A military council camp stationed at Myaung Junction in Myinmu Township, Sagaing Region, was targeted in an artillery attack by revolutionary forces, resulting in casualties among military council troops, according to a representative from the Village Defense Force Coalition. The attack took place on July 8th, prompted by the military council troops’ activities in the area, which included extorting money from travelers, conducting arbitrary arrests and searches, and raiding nearby villages for supplies. The military council’s oppressive actions against local civilians had become increasingly severe, leading to this coordinated response from resistance forces.
During the attack, three artillery shells struck inside the military council camp, with confirmation of at least three soldiers sustaining severe injuries. While the exact number of military casualties could not be immediately verified, the revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the operation without suffering any losses. Intelligence reports indicated that approximately thirty military council troops were stationed at the camp at the time of the attack. While the main camp buildings reportedly sustained minimal damage, the outer areas where troops had set up positions were significantly impacted. The attack demonstrated the growing capabilities and coordination of resistance forces in the region.
The operation was carried out through a joint effort of several local revolutionary groups, including the Village Defense Force Coalition, Myaung Township PDF Communications Unit, People’s Defense Force, Nine Brothers Force, Black Eagle Force, Ethnic Armed Forces, and Chaung-U Saturday Force. This coordinated assault represented a strategic response to the military council’s ongoing oppression of local civilians and marked a significant effort by revolutionary forces to maintain security and rule of law in the region. The attack highlighted the growing resistance against the military council’s authority and the increasing effectiveness of coordinated operations between various revolutionary groups operating in the Sagaing Region.
