Revolutionary forces have announced that they will not accept the illegal election planned by the military in Magway Region’s Minbu District and Sagaing Region’s Naga Self-Administered Zone, warning that those who participate will face effective punitive action. The People’s Defense Force (PDF) Minbu District Battalion 2 has firmly declared its opposition to the illegitimate mock election that the terrorist military aims to hold. The announcement states that the military, which unlawfully detained President Win Myint, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, and other civilian government leaders while committing treason against the state, has no authority to conduct elections and is an enemy of the state and its people.
The military’s attempt to forcefully create an illegal election against the will of the people, aimed at maintaining their power and seeking impunity for their past and ongoing war crimes, is not only a violation of democratic principles but also an attempt to illegitimately seize the people’s sovereign power. Therefore, the public is urged to resist and prevent the terrorist military group from holding this fraudulent election. The statement warns that groups and individuals involved in or associated with the fake election will be investigated and effectively punished. The forces have cautioned people to avoid military battalions, units, subordinate police stations, and their surrounding areas, and not to stay in close proximity to these locations.
Similarly, in the Naga region of Sagaing Division, the National Unity Government’s Ministry of Defense and the PDF Special Combat Force have officially announced that they will absolutely not accept the military’s mock election. They have warned that any party or individual participating in the military regime’s election will only increase conflicts and instability in the Naga region. The statement emphasizes that those who directly participate in the election or cooperate with such activities will be held responsible for any loss of life or property during the election period, and they will not take responsibility for any subsequent problems. Furthermore, they have officially announced that they cannot guarantee the security of those who choose to participate in the military’s election or assist in its implementation within the Naga region.
