The People’s Defense Force Demoso (DMO Local PDF) and Karenni National People’s Liberation Front (KNPLF) forces, in collaboration with local residents, have intensified their anti-drug operations in Demoso Township, Karenni State. During inspections conducted in April 2025, they seized approximately 10,000 WY stimulant tablets. These narcotics were publicly destroyed by burning on June 4, according to the forces’ announcement.
Due to the rising incidents of theft, robbery, and burglary among youth caused by drug abuse, revolutionary forces are placing special emphasis on drug enforcement operations. A spokesperson from the Demoso DMO Local PDF explained that while drug users will be detained for rehabilitation and eventually released after recovery, drug dealers will face more severe consequences. The forces are implementing a differentiated approach to handling drug-related cases based on their severity.
Similarly, in Mandalay Region, the People’s Defense Force (Mandalay) seized and destroyed over 67,626 drug pills in Sintguu and Kyaukse Townships on June 2.
