A senior official from the People’s Defense Force’s Southern Command, Sub-Region 2, Bago Division Command, Strategy 21 Pyay District Battalion 3602 has confirmed that resistance forces have successfully captured the military council’s Thet Put camp and Theinkone tower camp in Paungde Township, Pyay District, Bago Region. On May 17, revolutionary forces launched an attack on a military council column of approximately 70 personnel who were heading to reinforce the Theinkone tower outpost in Paungde Township. The attack resulted in three casualties on the military council’s side and numerous injuries.
Following the engagement, military council troops retreated to the Theinkone tower camp, which was subsequently surrounded by revolutionary forces. On May 19, all military council personnel abandoned the Theinkone tower camp, allowing the Pyay District People’s Defense Force battalions to completely capture the position. Previously, soldiers from this camp had been regularly engaging in civilian abuse, including forced portering, burning nearby villages, and killing innocent civilians, which had led to frequent clashes with People’s Defense Forces in the area.
Additionally, on May 12, revolutionary forces successfully captured the military council’s Thet Put camp in Paungde Township, as confirmed by Comrade Shadow, the intelligence and information officer of the People’s Defense Force Pyay District Battalion 3601. The operations to capture these military council camps in Paungde Township were carried out through coordinated efforts between People’s Defense Force Pyay District Battalion 3602, Battalion 3601, and the Pyay District PDF units. These successful operations represent significant territorial gains for the revolutionary forces in their ongoing struggle against the military council’s presence in the region.
